Korean Cooking Class (offline)🍴
Menu of this month : Three types of 'Gimbap' - Beef/Tuna/Anchovy (김밥 세종류)
Gimbap(Kimbap) is a staple made from rolling seasoned cooked rice with your favorite ingredients such as vegetables, fish and meat with gim -dried sheets of seaweed- and served in bite-sized slices. As it can be easily eaten regardless of location, the dish is often part of a packed meal to be enjoyed at picnics and outdoor events. Although Gimbap is a simple and portable meal, it has a perfect nutritional balance as in general it consists of rice, vegetables(carrot, spinach), egg and meat.

Korean Literature Book Club 📚
Finally it’s here! An English speaking in-person book club covering segments of contemporary Korean literature. Join this club, read at your leisure a book selected for the month to be discussed LIVE and learn about Korean society, its culture, its people and its history.
Our first book is entitled “Almond” by Won-Pyung Sohn. In this story told by a boy born with no ability to feel emotions, the author reveals a grim cross section of Korean society today, its social divides, the will of young adolescents to survive, and a friendship that sees no boundaries. Our first book meeting will be held on Thursday evening April 28th at 19:00pm. Reservation made in advance with selected dates. We welcome at least a three-month commitment!

The Seorae Global Village Center is part of a network of information and welcome centers for foreigners located in neighborhoods across Seoul where many foreign residents tend to reside. The opening of these centers was an initiative of the city of Seoul in 2008 with the mission to provide practical information about living in Korea so that foreign residents find the day-to-day management easy. Our primary role is to answer questions that pertain to daily life and to help manage situations where the language barrier becomes an issue. You will find at the center Korean language programs as well as other cultural and artistic lessons to learn and appreciate the multiple facts of the Korean culture. We hope that this will help you create new encounters and discoveries. Please visit our website for more information about what's happening this month. |
