Korean Cooking Class
Perilla Leaf Special !: Dakbokkeumtang & Tofu Perilla Leaf Salad
This month, our Korean cooking class is all about exploring the bold and aromatic taste of perilla leaf―a beloved herb in Korean cuisine known for its unique flavor and health benefits. Both dishes on the June menu will feature perilla leaf as a key ingredient, adding a fresh and flavorful twist.
Dakbokkeumtang(닭볶음탕) is a hearty and spicy braised chicken stew made with tender chicken, potatoes, and vegetables simmered in a rich gochujang-based sauce, accented with perilla leaves for an earthy depth.
Please note: This is a spicy dish. We recommend it for those who enjoy or can tolerate spicy food.
Tofu Perilla Leaf Salad(두부깻잎무침) is a refreshing and savory side dish made with soft tofu and fresh perilla leaves tossed in a light soy-based dressing. It is a cooling balance to the heat of the main dish, and a way to appreciate the unique character of perilla.

The Seorae Global Village Center is part of a network of information and welcome centers for foreigners located in neighborhoods across Seoul where many foreign residents tend to reside. The opening of these centers was an initiative of the city of Seoul in 2008 with the mission to provide practical information about living in Korea so that foreign residents find the day-to-day management easy. Our primary role is to answer questions that pertain to daily life and to help manage situations where the language barrier becomes an issue.
You will find at the center Korean language programs as well as other cultural and artistic lessons to learn and appreciate the multiple facts of the Korean culture. We hope that this will help you create new encounters and discoveries.
Please visit our website for more information about what's happening this month. |
