Terrarium One-Day Class
To celebrate the arrival of Summer Solstice, we are organizing a Terrarium making class with HAPPY EVER AFTER, an atelier specializing in mini gardening. The instructor is coming to us at the Seorae Global Village Center for a ONE DAY CLASS on Friday June 21st at 1:30pm. You will be making your own Terrarium and taking it home with you.
What is terrarium? A terrarium mimics nature in a contained environment. Plants absorb water from their roots, it is brought up to the leaves and through transpiration. Water droplets are lifted into the air and falls on the walls making the water cycle infinite. Step by step, you will touch and feel fragments of soil, pebbles and plants and you will be able to decorate with your sense and taste. Take a segment of nature in your home or office and enjoy the healing effect!

Book of this Month:
My Brilliant Life by Ae-Ran Kim
Ae-ran Kim's My Brilliant Life explores family bonds and out-of-the-ordinary friendships, interweaving the past and present of a tight-knit family, finding joy and happiness in even the most difficult times. Areum lives life to its fullest, vicariously through the stories of his parents, conversations with Little Grandpa Jang—his sixty-year-old neighbor and best friend—and through the books he reads to visit the places he would otherwise never see. For several months, Areum has been working on a manuscript, piecing together his parents’ often embellished stories about his family and childhood. He hopes to present it on his birthday, as a final gift to his mom and dad; their own falling-in-love story. Through it all, Areum and his family will have you laughing and crying, for all the right reasons.

The Seorae Global Village Center is part of a network of information and welcome centers for foreigners located in neighborhoods across Seoul where many foreign residents tend to reside. The opening of these centers was an initiative of the city of Seoul in 2008 with the mission to provide practical information about living in Korea so that foreign residents find the day-to-day management easy. Our primary role is to answer questions that pertain to daily life and to help manage situations where the language barrier becomes an issue.
You will find at the center Korean language programs as well as other cultural and artistic lessons to learn and appreciate the multiple facts of the Korean culture. We hope that this will help you create new encounters and discoveries.
Please visit our website for more information about what's happening this month. |
