Korean History Lecture Series 💬

The Seorae Global Village Center will hold a special lecture on Pre-Modern Korean history by Pr. David A. Mayson, professor of Korean and International Cultural Tourism for Sejong University, Seoul Campus, College of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Pr. David A. Mayson provides an overview of Korea's long premodern history, emphasizing some of the key themes, especially the religious changes throughout the history that had a profound effect on the culture and people.

Every Tuesday at 14:00pm (duration 90mins)

Korea, Off the Beaten Path

Talk Series No. 7 Yeongwol 🪂

Yeongwol is a city located in the southern part of Gangwon-do and is a gorgeous place with a beautiful natural scenery. The Donggang River flows through the district, and is a tributary of the Namhan River. The River spans an area of 60 kilometers, and it is a well preserved river, left untouched due to the strong current of the waters and the rugged geography of the mountains. Taking advantages of the geographical feature, Yeongwol is famous for outdoor activities such as water rafting and paragliding.

On September 16th, Ms. Cho of MOVE travel magazine will reveal all the hidden gems of Yeongwol-gun that will make your upcoming trip more interesting.

Come and Join us on ZOOM armed with a pen to jot down all the local travel tips by a travel expert.

KIDS' PROGRAM

Interactive Storytelling Hour for Kids 📚

Date and Time : September 1st~September 29th(no class on September 22) | 15:30~16:15

Target Audience : Any children living in Seoul as a foreign resident aged from 5 to 8

(GS/CP/CE1)

What to prepare : A drawing pad size A4 with blank pages, color crayons, pair of scissors and glue. You may need to drop by the center to pick up a small envelope with pre-cut/

pre-conceived supplies for the Wednesday meet up.

Baking Class for Kids 🧁

Date and Time : September 8,15,29 / October 6,13 (5 sessions) | 14:00~15:00pm

Location : Zoom

Target Audience : Any children living in Seoul as a foreign resident aged from 3 to 16

Material Fee : 10,000KRW per session (quantity for 4 persons)

- Price is for perishable ingredients and special accessories

- We expect people to have the basic baking tools at home

- Kits to pick up at the center

- You can work in two but the price is per person.

- For those in quarantine living in Seorae Maeul, we will deliver the kit to your home

Menus :

- September 8th : Sablés viennois

- September 15th : tarte au citron

- September 29th : Financiers et rose en pate d'amande

- October 6th : Charlotte au chocolat

- October 13th : Verrines à la crème pâtissière

The Seorae Global Village Center is part of a network of information and welcome centers for foreigners located in neighborhoods across Seoul where many foreign residents tend to reside. The opening of these centers was an initiative of the city of Seoul in 2008 with the mission to provide practical information about living in Korea so that foreign residents find the day-to-day management easy. Our primary role is to answer questions that pertain to daily life and to help manage situations where the language barrier becomes an issue.

You will find at the center Korean language programs as well as other cultural and artistic lessons to learn and appreciate the multiple facts of the Korean culture. We hope that this will help you create new encounters and discoveries.
