Korean History Lecture Series 💬

The Seorae Global Village Center will hold a special lecture on Pre-Modern Korean history by Pr. David A. Mason, professor of Korean and International Cultural Tourism for Sejong University, Seoul Campus, College of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Pr. David A. Mason provides an overview of Korea's long premodern history, emphasizing some of the key themes, especially the religious changes throughout the history that had a profound effect on the culture and people.

Every Tuesday at 14:00pm (duration 90mins)

Hangeul Day Calligraphy Workshop ✨

To celebrate the national Hangeul (or Hangul 한글) day (October 9^th every year), we are hosting a Korean calligraphy artist for a demonstration and a ‘do-it-yourself’ workshop with ink pen on hanji paper and etching on a small mood lamp as a take-away. You will have your chance to ask to write your name or any other short words in Korean to practice and etch on the mood lamp.

This workshop will be held online LIVE via zoom. A physical kit will have to be picked up at our location (Seorae Global Village Center, Seoraero 28 Jeon Building 3^rd floor, M-F 09:00-12:00; 13:00-18:00) or you would need to indicate if you wish shipment (at additional cost for those living outside of Seorae Maeul).

Location : Online (Zoom)

Targeted Audience : Any adults living in Seoul as a foreign resident

Material Fee :

- 8,000KRW if payment is made by cash upon kit collection

- 10,000KRW if shipment is needed (for Seoul addresses only, outside of Seorae Maeul)

Diversophy Game 🎲

Explore Korean culture with new learning game Diversophy®

Join others online and try to guess the best answers to questions about living in Korea

and communication with Koreans. Enjoy and appreciate differences, learn to adapt to new situations and most importantly, have fun!

With intercultural facilitators Catherine Roignan and Hana Beom.

Please note that there will be a group photo opportunity during the game session. If you do not wish to appear on the group photograph, you may turn off your camera just before the screen capture. It will be announced. Thank you.

This workshop is about taking a moment for yourself, with yourself, and be guided by

KIDS' PROGRAM

Interactive Storytelling Hour for Kids 📚

Date and Time : October 6th ~ October 27th | 15:30~16:15

Target Audience : Any children living in Seoul as a foreign resident aged from 5 to 8

(GS/CP/CE1)

What to prepare : A drawing pad size A4 with blank pages, color crayons, pair of scissors and glue. You may need to drop by the center to pick up a small envelope with pre-cut/

pre-conceived supplies for the Wednesday meet up.

Baking Class for Kids 🧁

Date and Time :

- October 20th : 14:00~15:00

- October 28th : 10:30~11:30

Location : Zoom

Target Audience : Any children living in Seoul as a foreign resident aged from 3 to 16

Material Fee : 10,000KRW per session (quantity for 4 persons)

- Price is for perishable ingredients and special accessories

- We expect people to have the basic baking tools at home

- Kits to pick up at the center

- You can work in two but the price is per person.

- For those in quarantine living in Seorae Maeul, we will deliver the kit to your home

Menus :

- October 27th: Tarte à la citrouille

The Seorae Global Village Center is part of a network of information and welcome centers for foreigners located in neighborhoods across Seoul where many foreign residents tend to reside. The opening of these centers was an initiative of the city of Seoul in 2008 with the mission to provide practical information about living in Korea so that foreign residents find the day-to-day management easy. Our primary role is to answer questions that pertain to daily life and to help manage situations where the language barrier becomes an issue.

You will find at the center Korean language programs as well as other cultural and artistic lessons to learn and appreciate the multiple facts of the Korean culture. We hope that this will help you create new encounters and discoveries.
