Korean Cooking Class
Menu of this month: Oyster radish soup & geotjeori(fresh kimchi)
December is the best time to eat oysters in Korea. You can do so many versions of oyster dishes during this season. You can make jeons (Korean pancakes), sauteed with seasonings, grilled, steamed, make noodle soup with them, cook with rice, or simply eat them raw with a squeeze of lemon (or better yet with gochuchang - yum). This month, we would like to show you how to make a clear winter oyster soup with slices of daikon (Korean white radish, also a wintery seasonal vegetable) and as a side dish, ‘geotjeori’, a salad version of fresh Korean kimchi eaten cold and crispy (spiciness can be adjusted according to one’s tolerance). Chef Nancy Lee will be animating this atelier at the Global Center. Bring your apron and two safe containers to take your creation home.
Date and Time : Monday December 18th 2023 | 13:30~15:00
Location : Seorae Global Village Center (3F, 28, Seorae-ro, Seocho-gu)

Through the journey of two very close sisters, Pearl and May, we examine the Chinese |

Started in 2022, the Seorae Book Club is opened to the general public and its main area of interest stays in contemporary Korean literature (novels) and contemporary East Asian literature to better understand the intricacies of South Korea and its neighboring countries. Books are often selected from suggestions from the group. You can reach our Kakao Open Chat “Seorae Book Club” to leave comments and invite others. All meetings are conducted in English. |

The Seorae Global Village Center is part of a network of information and welcome centers for foreigners located in neighborhoods across Seoul where many foreign residents tend to reside. The opening of these centers was an initiative of the city of Seoul in 2008 with the mission to provide practical information about living in Korea so that foreign residents find the day-to-day management easy. Our primary role is to answer questions that pertain to daily life and to help manage situations where the language barrier becomes an issue. You will find at the center Korean language programs as well as other cultural and artistic lessons to learn and appreciate the multiple facts of the Korean culture. We hope that this will help you create new encounters and discoveries. Please visit our website for more information about what's happening this month. |
